Hello, hello, fellow Kindle addicts, how's the summer treating you these days?
So for today we have a tiny tutorial for you. Yes, you, the one who's been neglecting the software updates on your reading device. I know that life gets in the way sometimes, but trust me, updating your Kindle is a great way to enhance your experience with this amazing e-reader.
Usually, Kindle devices update automatically and for this you must always be connected to a wi-fi network, but, if you are a battery frugal just like us and have your device always set to airplane mode to save up battery these updates might just slip through your fingers, but fear not, we have the solution here in this post.
For updating your kindle, I'll leave the Amazon Kindle Updates page linked here, please note that on this page you can choose the update file that suits your device model the most and also download it to your computer.
First of all, after your download is complete from the Amazon website, you should connect your Kindle device to your computer and your Kindle will show up where your external devices are usually shown, when you open your Kindle device you should see the root directory with all the folders in it.
Now this is a very important part, you must copy the update .zip file as it is to the root directory itself and make sure you do NOT place it in the folders presented there.
After the transfer is complete, safely remove your device from your computer and remove the connecting cable as well.
Now, on your device you should go to the home screen, tap the 3 dotted icon and then tap settings.
Then, tap the 3 dotted icon again and then tap Update Your Kindle. As you are doing this procedure manually the button text should show up in bold black letters, if it looks greyed out it means that either your device has already the latest update installed or the update file was not transferred correctly.
Once the installation is complete, your Kindle should restart automatically, and after that all that you need to do is to seat back, relax and enjoy your next great book.
