Paranormal Series for this Spooky Season

14/10/2020

The days preceding Halloween are the perfect time to get those spooky reads up to date. It's not like some of us do not love to read paranormal stuff all year long but let's be honest, this is the season to get spooky and if we love binge watching horror movies and tv shows the same goes for the reads we tend to pick for this time of the year.

We are absolute fans of the classics, those that keep beind adapted to the cinema and even the tv. Reads such as The Haunting of Hill House, The Turn of the Screw or even The Woman in Black are the perfect examples of horror classics, but this time around we bringing you some of our favourite and most recent, paranormal series, not all of them being horror stories but all of them having that crutial common factor.

This is a very out of the mainstream kind of series. Nt even sure how I came across this one but i absolutely love it. Each book is super short, going around  100 pages each and the series is now up to its 15th book.

If you are anything like me and love paranormal reality TV you'll really enjoy these ones. Each book (I have read 9 so far) has a different story, just like a tv show, however there is a plot that makes the bridge between each and every book.

I am anxiously awaiting for March 2021 to get the third book in the series and that is something! City of Ghosts, the first book of the Cassidy Blake series was actually the very first book we reviewed on the blog, earlier this year, so it made sense to be part of the list.

This series is supposed to be a middle grade children's book but I can tell you that i am a 30 year old adult that really enjoyed this book. Even though the main characters are very young teens i feel as if Schwab stroke gold with the references, the description of the places and mostly with the plot that thickens as it goes.

Let me just start by saying this: there are 24 books in these series so far! I can only tell you about the first, quite promising book in the series, The Ghost of Marlow House. This is a modern day tale of a girl that can see and talk to spirits, inheriting a house that...you guessed it right, is haunted! This is the sort of cozy mystery read that is perfect for those who want to dwell on paranormal literature but are too faint of heart to dive into horror stories.

A very modern book perfect for those who love magical realism. The kind of book that brings us a paranormal theme with witches but that also stands for some important issues of our everyday life such as queer literature. This one is a young adult book for those looking after modern day witches, but still being on the subject of paranormal, and not a horror story per se i figured that it would be a great one to add to the list.

This is the stand alone we had to include in this post. This book could very well be part of the classics because it hits all the right notes. The perfect victorian setting, the perfect unfold of the events, every little detail and little thing makes it a top notch stand alone sort of read that one can easily fit in a couple of days before Halloween.

As a personal lover of gothic fiction this one fills every little checkmark and standards i hold dear.

Now, let us know what you're favourite spooky reads for this season are. We are always eager to add more to our growing reading list.
